Album #3, San Francisco 1983

Don't know who they are but they still look cool all these years later.

On October 8, 1983, Castro Street, the first AIDS Candlelight Vigil/Rally is held in San Francisco. It is the first time people with AIDS publicly demonstrate in the City. [http://www.sfgayhistory.com/]

The beginning of my 9 months working at the investment firm, Hambrecht & Quist, they fired me just before xmas. At least I could cross that option off my list!

  1. The third photo from top of the Oct 8 1983 Vigil; the two guys unrolling what was red tape were Dan Turner (left) and Roger Lyon (right), both men with AIDS. Speaking at the mic was Rick Crane (left) director of KS AIDS Foundation and Michael Helquist (right) journalist and lover of the late Mark Feldman.

  2. Michael: my apologies for not seeing your post sooner...thanks for filling in the names of the guys in the photo...on the tape was the names of people who had died of AIDS as i remember....best steve
